DICOM formed a standard committee to formally represent all medical specialties that use imaging. This organization is the international standard to transmit, store, retrieve, print, process, and display medical imaging information. DICOM has become absolute necessary to the clinical imaging departments by providing more efficient routine production and having a clear understanding of imaging studies (AMIA, 2019). The DICOM Standards Committee has a policy of making the DICOM Standard to use and download for free. This organization makes medical imaging information interoperable and combines image-acquisition devices together from different manufacturers (DICOM, 2019).
