Snow Policy Activity: Follow-Up

What was your initial reaction to the memos? Did your reaction/analysis of the memos alter or affirm this initial impression? Do you prefer one version to the other, or, perhaps, do you think the styles of the two could be combined? Please be sure to tell everyone what version of the memo you read first.Your response should be 150–300 words.YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS VIDEO AND REPOND.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtJth_Hhf2o&feature=emb_logoTo: All Employees A From: George Stritton, CEORE: Policy Changes ATo: All EmployeesFrom: George StrittonDate: February 7, 2002RE: Vacation and Snow Policies UpdatesVacationDue to our restricted development and sales timeframe, effective immediately no vacation is to be taken until one month after SoftwarePackage 2.0 ships. This is to ensure that SoftwarePackage is completed in a timely fashion, as well as any problems that arise 30 days after the ship date. Sick days are still available during this time. If you use your sick days and continue to miss work, you will be docked pay for those days that you miss.Snow PolicyUnless the Albany area is in a state of emergency, all employees are expected to be here on days that it snows OR if management decides to close the office. If for any reason you cannot come to work, you will be docked for the days that you miss, unless you work from home. If you work from home you must be connected to the office via VPN during your work hours. A status report must be sent to your manager including what you did while you were home. If you are a developer, you must send a copy of your CVS logs to your manager. Finally, if you are working from home you must notify your manager, and have a phone accessible to you during your working hours. This will allow co-workers to keep in touch if any problems arise. Failure to follow these rules will result in docked pay for that day.ExceptionsExceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis.Short-term Vacation Policy BWe’re almost finished with SoftwarePackage 2.0. While we’re in this final stretch, until one month after SP 2.0 ships, no new vacation days will be approved because we need everyone’s expertise to finish the product. Of course, you can still take a paid sick day if you need it. (Employee pay is only docked if more sick days are taken than are allotted; if you’d like to know how many sick days you have remaining, just phone Cynthia at x3366.)Snow PolicyIf Albany County has a snow emergency declared, please stay home for your safety. We will close the office, and you will receive full pay.Occasionally, even when Albany doesn’t declare a snow emergency, it will be too dangerous for you to come to work, and we will close the office. Simply call the office in the morning to see if it’s been closed. In this case, too, you will receive full pay.And finally, if you decide it is too dangerous to come to work, even though the office is open, you may work from home and receive full pay. To work from home during a snow day:Call or email your manager to let him or her know you won’t be in. Give a phone number where you can be reached.Connect to the VPN during work hours. At the end of the day, send your manager a short status report describing what youaccomplished. If you are a developer, attach your code.At the end of the week, include your accomplishments from the snow day like anyother day on your weekly status report.ExceptionsOf course, if you have a situation that needs an exception from one of the policies above, contact me and we will talk it over.
